Fairbridge
Fairbridge works with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage with – homeless, substance misuse, or a history of offending - and gives them the motivation, self-confidence, and skills they need to change their lives.
Fairbridge centres are based in 15 of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK. Each year over 4,000 young people choose to engage with them. For many it is their first step back into education, training or work.
One route out of these chaotic lives and towards more meaningful, structured, and fruitful lives is through cooking, which is where we contribute. In February 2010, Fairbridge opened a new centre in Hackney for which the Worshipful Company of Cooks provided funding to fit out its kitchen. This kitchen is both resource for instruction as well as social hub for the centre.
