Centre for Culinary Research
The Worshipful Company of Cooks Research Centre was established at Bournemouth University in 1994 to research ‘public sector feeding’. Since its inception, the Centre undertook studies into various aspects associated with food, food service and nutrition. These studies varied from basic research into topics such as culinary techniques to applied research, including work in NHS hospitals, HM Prison Service, the Armed Forces (both in the UK and USA), and feeding older people in the community. Funding for the Centre was provided by the Worshipful Company of Cooks until 2008.

Individuals were encouraged to undertake higher education degrees by research. The Centre fully funded one student for the award of Master of Philosophy and partly funded two students for the award of Doctor of Philosophy. Today, this research effort is directed through the International Conference of Culinary Arts and Sciences.
